MRCOG Traffic Flow Maps
Please see the MRCOG weblink below regarding the announcement of the MRCOG 2023 Traffic Flow Maps. Some interesting results regarding the impact of the pandemic still playing out in traffic patterns in the central region of NM.
There is also a graph that helps illustrate the pattern. The Village of Los Ranchos recently purchased a Stalker Traffic Data Collection device (TDC2). The TDC2 can be installed on utility poles and will collect speed and traffic data throughout the Village. The TDC2 collects speed and traffic data and allows the Village to create several reports related to speed and traffic data to include ideal times for traffic enforcement by law enforcement. The following are the 3 locations for June 2024 that the TDC2 was located and the data we collected:
800 Block of Ortega from June 3 through June 10, 2024
Total Vehicles 9865- 5086 were traveling west bound and 4779 were traveling east bound.
Average vehicles per day-1393
Average Speed 30.5 MPH
85th percentile 36 MPH
22% of the vehicles were traveling more than 35 MPH
